Medicine

The secret lies in the gut!

We have found that patients with autism who prioritize their health and nutrition benefit most from MeRT℠ therapy. If you still do not have a doctor that offers a comprehensive approach, we have a team of specialized reference doctors available.

As general recommendations, we suggest following a diet free of gluten, casein, soy, sugar and additives, among others. It is essential to follow this recommendation in the hands of a nutritionist who designs an individualized plan.

COGNITIVE CARE

q-EEG

The q-EEG is an Electroencephalogram that records the electrical activity of the brain. We use q-EEGs to study brain activity and its functioning pattern. This allows our team of specialists to develop an appropriate and personalized treatment protocol that promotes optimal brain communication in patients with autism.

How is it performed?

It is a simple and non-invasive procedure that provides an individual map of the brain for each patient. It involves placing an eeg cap with small metal disks and thin wires (electrodes) on the scalp, which will capture and record brain activity.

Most EEGs take about 45 minutes and while they are not painful, they can be stressful for some patients. For this reason, prior to performing it, we give recommendations to parents and provide illustrative videos in order to prepare the patient for a better experience. In 99% of cases, with the great skills and dedication of our technicians, we are able to obtain a successful q-EEG.

COGNITIVE CARE

MeRT

MeRT is an innovative treatment based on repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) technology that allows healthy brain communication to be restored in patients with autism.

How does it work?

After collecting and analyzing neurophysiological data, our team of medical specialists develop a personalized protocol for each patient. The application of the treatment is carried out under the strict supervision of our technicians, following the respective protocol.

MENTAL HEALTH CARE

Coaching
For Parents

Parents and families experiencing an unexpected diagnosis need support to manage expectations, emotions, and fears.

Many times, unconsciously, they put themselves last, thinking that this is the way to put their children first. This thought can cause fatigue, pain, and anguish.

During the sessions, our coaches focus on the parents, providing practical tools to put blame aside, balance emotions and reconnect with intuition.

MENTAL HEALTH CARE

Psychology
For Adults

Studies show that parents of children with unexpected diagnoses can suffer from anxiety and depression, the most common pathologies.

Specifically, an ASD diagnosis can cause stress (a normal response to complex situations) and, depending on the person, trigger personal or relationship conflicts.

Our team of psychologists is trained to serve people, children and couples who are looking for practical tools to deal with situations that arise in the face of complexity such as autism.

Psycho-pedagogy

Psycho-pedagogy is the social science that deals with the study of teaching and learning processes. It is a discipline where Psychology and Pedagogy converge and therefore, its principles are based on cognitive, emotional and social processes.

It offers the necessary resources for the intervention and development of programs that address the difficulties in learning and in the development of students.

At BTCA we have rethought the way of intervening in development processes with the help of a multidisciplinary team and a variety of innovative resources to train and guide patients with ASD, as well as their families.

MENTAL HEALTH CARE

Child
Psychology

Child psychologists are specialists responsible for understanding and explaining the development and behavior of children. To do this, they use therapies, both individual and collective, that help diagnose and treat social, emotional, affective and learning problems.

How does Child Psychology help a child with ASD?

It is increasingly common for parents to require the help of professionals to guide them in relation to the guidelines they must follow with their children, especially if there are certain difficulties present at a behavioral, emotional or school level. Generally, it is the pediatricians, teachers, and family members who give that first alert.

Positive
Discipline

Positive Discipline is an educational model that fosters the development of the child’s social skills, centered on mutual respect and cooperation. It helps parents understand their children’s behavior and gives them tools to guide them effectively and lastingly with love, empathy, connection, and respect.

What tools can a Positive Discipline advisory provide me with?

During counseling, parents are taught about the particular characteristics and individualities of each of their children, their ages, and their needs. Also, they will learn about which parenting style they currently use, such as family dynamics, and then together build parenting strategies that are effective and applicable to the family.

We recommend Positive Discipline for parents of children with autism, as it offers tools that are tailored specifically to each family.

Sensory
Integration

Sensory integration is a neurobiological process responsible for organizing the sensations we receive from our body and the environment, allowing us to respond appropriately to the demands that are presented to us during our daily activities.

All people process external stimuli differently. There are children in whom this integration does not develop properly, which causes problems in how they respond to information captured through sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste, perceiving sensations in a distorted way.

This alteration affects their daily life and has a significant impact on the level of alertness and attention, self-regulation, and learning of the individual as well as their relationship with their usual environments, house, parks, school, etc.

How does Sensory Integration therapy help a child with ASD?

A good Sensory Integration helps give an appropriate response to the sensory input the child needs to carry out an organized and successful response. This, in turn, helps improve their sensory experiences in the face of any stimulus and benefits their daily occupational performance. The activities proposed during the sensory integration sessions are designed for the specific needs of each child.

Early Stimulation
For Children

Early stimulation addresses the child’s brain development and maturation, influenced by the environment and the external stimuli occurring in the surroundings.

How does early stimulation help a child with ASD?

Early stimulation can be applied to autistic children from birth to 7 years of age, as this is the age range with the greatest neuronal plasticity. The therapy seeks to stimulate their compensatory capacities with the aim that they will be able to control their movements, regulate their emotions, understand and express themselves, and enhance their intellectual capacity to function autonomously.
